What’s Causing My Bad Breath?

The short answer is bacteria. Bacteria, and not necessarily what you eat, is what is causing your bad breath. Some foods do have a strong odor that can linger after you eat, but that smell generally fades relatively quickly, and the bad smell you are left with is due to bacteria. Regular oral hygiene is usually all it takes to quell bad breath. The bacteria that are causing the bad breath lie mostly on the back of the tongue and on the surrounding teeth. As air passes through the mouth when talking the smell of the bacteria travels with the air and out of the mouth. Regular brushing, flossing, and mouthwash can be very effective at treating bad breath. Gargling with mouthwash is an effective method for killing bacteria that have collected on the back of the tongue. If you are experiencing bad breath, don’t mask it, try to get rid of the bacteria that are causing it. A Professional Breath Control procedure may also be necessary. This procedure is actually designed to remove the bacteria that can cause bad breath. By lightly scraping the tongue, applying an antibacterial gel, and performing bacteria-removal procedures along the teeth and gum line, the foul-smelling bacteria can be removed. Read More

Getting You Back on Your Feet

In most cases dental procedures require a local anesthetic in order to provide a painless and comfortable visit. The residual effects of the anesthetic do last beyond the procedure, usually for a couple of hours. However, there is a new solution for this dilemma in the form of OraVerse. OraVerse is an anesthesia reversal agent that effectively removes the groggy, numbing effects of the anesthesia. By accelerating the process of recovery, you can return to normal tasks quicker. OraVerse is not a required procedure, but is provided as a convenience to patients that desire its results. Please consult us for more information regarding OraVerse if it is something you would like to consider.  Read More

Testimonials

"I have been a client of FLOSS for over a decade. While I am definitely one of the more "low-maintenance" patients they have (no cavities to-date), I nonetheless have always appreciated the professionalism of the staff and the welcoming environment they have created and maintained over the years. There's no reason going to a dentist should be a pain in the neck...or the mouth! FLOSS proves that to be true on each and every visit."
