Types of Sedation Available at FLOSS

IV Sedation

When It’s Needed:

  • Mild to moderate anxiety
  • Short procedures
  • Pediatric or adult patients who want to remain awake and aware

Who Can Receive It:

  • Children and adults in good health
  • Not ideal for patients with nasal blockages or severe respiratory conditions

How It’s Administered:

  • Inhaled through a soft nose mask
  • Begins working within minutes and wears off quickly after treatment

Oral Sedation (Anti-Anxiety Pills)

When It’s Needed:

  • Moderate anxiety
  • Longer or multiple procedures
  • Patients who want to be less aware but remain responsive

Who Can Receive It:

  • Adults and older teens with no contraindicating health issues
  • Requires a driver to and from the appointment

How It’s Administered:

  • Prescription sedative pill taken 1 hour before the appointment
  • May cause drowsiness and mild amnesia of the visit

IV Sedation (Conscious IV Sedation)
